"Grace" and "mercy" in relation to Jesus

Is it proper or useful to use the terms "grace" and "mercy" when speaking of God's dealings with Jesus in His humiliation? I'm thinking about the terms as they are often defined- receiving what we don't deserve and not receiving what we do deserve. Or does Scripture use broader definitions?

Christ received a punishment he did not personally deserve - but that was grace to us. Other than that, he received what the covenant assigned him, on completing the conditions. Obviously it would be absurd to speak of the human nature deserving the hypostatic union, or anything like that.

He certainly received God's favor and assistance.

In other words, I wouldn't necessarily think it worthwhile to contend about the terms if someone spoke of grace and mercy in relation to Christ; but given that he was not spared and that what he received he received in virtue of his obedience, it certainly doesn't seem necessary to do so.
