Me thinks he might've wiped with indulgences and a papal bull here and there. Erasmus's freedom of the will might of served the purpose as well!
 
Interesting article.

In the US, we often see signs saying "George Washington slept here". If we visit Germany, will we start seeing similar signs, "Martin Luther ____ed here"

I prefer "covered his feet," as a friend says.:D
