Katrina!

I was just outside dropping down the shutters. It was scarey; I imagined a tree hitting me upside the head. Wind and rain. I was borderline cussing a couple of times. Strange how one loses it when the stress factor is increased.

Weakling!

I read that the storm is predicted to land in Fort Lauderdale (where you are!). Praying for the safety of you, your family and our other PB Florida members.

:pray2:

I just read on CNN.com that Katrina just hit the mainland. I hope you Floridans are all safe. Give us an update when the hurricane passes.

Well, she's back over water now and into the VERY warm Gulf - and headed for us. Here's the latest:

RADAR IMAGERY INDICATES THAT KATRINA HAS STARTED TO MOVE NEARLY DUE
WESTWARD... AND THE INITIAL MOTION ESTIMATE IS 260/4. THIS MOTION
IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS TO THE SOUTH OF
AN EASTWARD EXTENSION OF THE MID-LEVEL RIDGE CENTERED OVER TEXAS.
THE DYNAMICAL MODELS GENERALLY AGREE THAT THIS RIDGE WILL WEAKEN
AND MIGRATE WESTWARD... ALLOWING KATRINA TO GRADUALLY TURN
NORTHWARD INTO A WEAKNESS IN THE RIDGING. THE NEW SUITE OF GUIDANCE
HAS SHIFTED A LITTLE TO THE WEST... AS HAS THE OFFICIAL FORECAST...
WHICH IS A BLEND OF THE PREVIOUS ADVISORY AND THE LATEST MODEL
CONSENSUS.

ALL INDICATIONS ARE THAT KATRINA WILL BE A DANGEROUS HURRICANE IN
THE NORTHEASTERN GULF OF MEXICO WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.
THIS SEEMS EVEN MORE LIKELY NOW GIVEN ITS CURRENT STRENGTH EMERGING
AGAIN OVER WATER. AS KATRINA MOVES FARTHER NORTH IN THE EASTERN
GULF OF MEXICO... ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS SHOULD ONLY BECOME MORE
CONDUCIVE FOR STRENGTHENING AS A LARGE UPPER LEVEL ANTICYCLONE
DOMINATES OVER THE GULF OF MEXICO. THE OFFICIAL FORECAST IS CLOSE
TO THE SHIPS GUIDANCE IN BRINGING KATRINA TO 90 KT BY 72 HOURS....
BUT THIS COULD BE CONSERVATIVE SINCE THE GFDL AND GFDN FORECAST A
MAJOR HURRICANE. IT IS CERTAINLY POSSIBLE THAT KATRINA COULD
ATTAIN MAJOR HURRICANE STATUS BEFORE MAKING LANDFALL SOMEWHERE ON
THE NORTHERN GULF COAST.

Looks like I'll spend my weekend with plywood.

I'm right now on Matts computer:

David,
Yes; I was at that moment losing it. We have not had any power since 7 pm last evening. Zoe is whining and Tina and I are getting a little punchy.

Took a drive earlier for some java; some damage; tree's down et.

Pray for our power to come back up before we lose our 2 freezers.

We do thank God for his providence; all of us are safe.

I just spoke w/ my wife. Our power is back on. Now I have to clean up the mess!

Thanks for the prayers.

Glad to hear that everything is okay.

Matt and Scott, I'm glad y'all came out alright. I know all too well what that hours during and after the storm are. Fortunately as 'canes go that was a small one - then.

Now it looks like we will catch the east side of a Cat 4 on Monday. We will be prepping tomorrow. Man, I'm getting tired of this.

For those not on the upper Gulf coast - the east side is the BAD side of an incoming storm. The REALLY BAD side. If you live here, you know that already.

Please pray for us. Pray that the high pressure will not move for a few more days! Pray that all the hurricane weary folks here will not snap! Pray that I'll be able to sleep. I know sleepless nights are probably coming.
