Book suggestion by a Catholic friend

Guys, I have a friend that has recently (past year) converted to Catholicism. We have been in dialogue about Catholicism ever since. This morning he suggested I read a book called "Roots of the reformation" but I don't know if it would be beneficial for me to read. Have any of you read this book?

I think the friend may have been referring to this book:

I am not familiar with it, but the appreciative reviews on Amazon appear to be primarily from Roman Catholics, so I would suspect that the history is somewhat polemically presented.
