The Georgia-Tennessee game is the most important game of the week for me, since my Vols have not won against Georgia since 2016.

Houston, Arizona, GTech, Memphis, Tennessee, WashSt, Pitt, Lib, FIU, JaxSt, AppSt, LSU, SCAR, Tulane, Notre Dame 24, TA&M 13

I think the oddsmakers are off base on several of these games. (I show that Clemson is currently a 9pt favorite over Georgia Tech? ) We'll see... maybe they'll be the ones with the last laugh.

Anyway, My picks for Week 3 are:

West Virginia
Bowling Green

Dawgs are going to hurt me this week. I'll go with them, but after watching them struggle with Austin Peay, Tennessee is clearly the better team.

They did? Huh, those are the types of games that go under my radar because the box score doesn't tell the whole story.

One good turn deserves another so I will say for any who don't watch B1G games, Penn State's 34 - 0 win over FIU doesn't tell the story of how long the offense struggled to be productive nor the fact that FIU offense had 2 or 3 long drives against the defense that ended in turnovers. PSU looked suspect Week 2. FYI there.

They did?
Couldn't punch it in from the 1 yard line in five tries. No passes longer than 5 yards. No running plays longer than 23 yards. No touchdown passes. Two fumbles. Defense looked ok against a weak offense; offensive line was bad, offense as a whole was not impressive.

I thought it was more that FIU played well - they looked well coached, moved the ball, and I was amazed they didn't score. PIcking them this week based on that. If they get rolled by FL. Atl. then I'll start doubting PSU (granted Allar didn't look sharp early, and I don't trust him, but it's hard to tell how good PSU really is from these early games - playing Villanova this week won't clear much up!).

They are well coached, and yeah, I too thought to myself: "If FIU gets to a Generic.com Bowl in December, I am leaning towards them based on Coach Simmons' obvious prep and game tape and holding his kids steady." That said, talent is the primary factor at this level and Penn State did not cover the spread. You are right about Allar though. Every announcer says he had a bad playoff game against ND, but check the tape and you will see that PSU beat Boise State in spite of Allar not because of him. He doesn't have it worked out upstairs yet in his head. May never get it.

But please don't let that stop you this year from picking Penn State to beat the Buckeyes and run the table and win it all so I can win hahaha. :)

I always pick against PSU - as a Penn State fan, it's always a win for me one way or the other!

My parents graduated there, and I kind of follow them wishing it was better but knowing it cannot be. I think the QBs are usually not clutch including Allar and Franklin gets outcoached when he faces teams with similar talent levels. My secret is that if I am wrong any given year, I too would be ecstatic, especially since well, I am just not wrong about them.

But save this. Post this if they win it all, it will be the best crow I have ever eaten (and I have eaten quite a bit in my life) hahahaha

Week 3 was SUCH A GREAT WEEK of football! I particularly enjoyed Vandy’s complete dismantling of South Carolina (resulting in the latter being dropped from the rankings) along with the fantastic matchups that were held between Georgia & Tennessee and also Texas A&M & Notre Dame. Great games and in both cases, the contest came down to the wire. I had a great time watching!

Thank YOU for your participation in the Pick’em! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

If you scroll to when I posted my picks on Monday morning (a week ago), I noted that I thought the oddsmakers were off-base on several of these games. I listened to my gut, and as it turns out, on this occasion my gut was telling me the truth… I managed to get 14 out of 15 games correct and am this week’s outright winner! (I think that's some kind of record... looking back at a few years of data I don't see that someone has ever only missed 1 out of 15... can a previous Convener look over their records and let me know?)

So, congrats, to ME! I’ve earned my first Flaming Scotsman of the season as well as my place on the Wall of Honor and my spot in the Bowl Bash later this year.

Here’s how we all did:

Me – 14 :flamingscot:
Jean – 10
Edward, Andrew, EdM – 9
Lane, Earl, Willis, Steve, Todd, Brad – 7
Rick – 6
JL – 5
