Psalm competition: "Psalms for today and tomorrow"

Within the framework of the various events on the occasion of the Calvin Jubilee the Calvin 09 association is launching a Psalms competition the aim of which is to offer composers, with no limits to age, nationality or confession, the possibility of contributing to the renewal of Reformed hymnology.

The competition consists of setting to music transcriptions of the Psalms in French

The idea is not only to maintain the tradition but also to innovate. The aim is to offer composers, particularly young composers, the opportunity to contribute to the renewal of the hymnology of the Psalms, a tradition especially characteristic of the Reformed churches since the sixteenth century.

Conditions

The compositions must be for everyone and be singable (1 to 4 voices) and playable on both organ and piano.

A composer can present one or more pieces, in the form of a score.

Prizes

The following prizes are offered:

- 1st prize of 3,000 Swiss francs
- 2nd prize of 2,000 Swiss francs
