At our PCA church the OT and NT readings are done by various men of the congregation preceding the sermon. This morning was the first time that I have been asked to do the readings. Having not been raised in the church, reading scripture or praying publicly still feels awkward. It went well and I suppose I'll be added to the rotation for future readings, which is a good thing as I am sure that my nervousness will abate with practice.

I'm glad it went well. The only thing that still feels awkward to me is when everyone in the church says something together. It may be from Scripture or like reading the answers to questions from a Reformed confession. Either way, it feels almost cult-like and sometimes insincere. Individually, it feels different, though.
