They are wringing their hands in Boston, ground zero for the most severe MLB meltdown since the 2004 Diamondbacks.

While New England slept last night, Damon got into bed with the enemy. Sox officials smugly believed there was no market for their marquee center fielder and the Yankees took advantage of Boston's big sleep.

To be perfectly honest with you, I am glad Dam(i)on is gone. My opinion, he never impressed me; especially during the playoffs. Granted, in the championship when they won the WS, his bat was working. Other than that, when it counted, he was a choker.

My opinion alone.

Buckner? Error, Error, does not compute. That name has been erased from my memory banks...

Matted and framed >> here<< for only $15.00.
The memory is starting to come back. I'm not quite sure how to thank-you.

 I'm glad to have Damon on board. The Sox have fallen apart since the departure of Theo Epstein. Their front office is horrible and things are only going to get worse for them.

Go Yanks!

For what? Come on Scott. Get real. Buckner was an exceptional player. If he had one or two more good seasons he would have been a HOF'er. I am a die-hard Met fan and certainly pleased that he could not come up with Mookie Wilson's grounder. But consider these facts:

1. There is no guarantee the Sox would have won had Buckner made the out. The game was tied and the Mets were guaranteed at least one more at bat.

2. MacNamara KNEW Buckner's knees were bad and his defense was mediorce. He should have taken him out for a defensive replacement but he didn't.

3. Buckner was second in RBI's (102) to Rice (110). Without Buckner the Sox would not have won the division or the ALCS.

4. The real culprit was my hometown boy Bob Stanley (Stanley attended my HS - Kearny HS Kearny, NJ). It was Stanley's WP that allowed the tying run to score.

Buckner was a great player for the Sox. His legacy has been unfairly tarnished by a bad play that never should have been.

Here's what I remember. Top of the ninth, full count; 1 strike away from the penant.......and all hell breaks loose. Schiraldy, Stanley and whoever are put in to try and pitch. We lose the game, we lose the next game and then the whole series.

Buckner comes to mind, yea he had bad knees, but he was a golden glove!

It's one of my thorns I will never escape.

And you don't see redemption in 2004?

Mark my words...the Mets will be playing in the fall classic next fall and I am praying for a rematch of the 2000 WS. It sure will be nice to see Yankee fans in stunned silence.

To a degree; recently ESPN had a top 20 list of the greatest chokes in history; The Sox/Mets game was #6 on thier list. 2004 was was grrrrreat! However, washing that choke off me will possibly never come.

Well, coming back from 0-3 down in the ALCS to beat the Yankees had to wash off some of the failures of the past.
