Are are any good books on the history of the church from early on in the British Isles, Germania, and Scandinavia/Vikings?

What think ye of "Andrew of Wyntoun 1350-1420" and his: "Orygynale cronykil of Scotland?"
I find trying to learn history via Scots Verse to be taxing. I lack the aptitude and patience for it. However it is on the internet archive if interested.

Howie wrote the Biographia scoticana which is available for free download. I have not read it, but have read some of Wylie's expansion of Scots Worthies, and find it a very pleasing read. However these are obviously Bio's.

Wylie also wrote a multi-volume set called History of the Scottish Nation. Vol I begins with "Pre-historic, Druidic, Roman, and Early Christian Scotland," Vol II contains "The Celtic Christianisation: Embracing the Epochs of Ninian, Patrick, Columba, Columbanus, and the Culdee Church" (sic) Vol III contains "From the Union of Scots and Picts, A.D. 843, to Death of Alexander III., A.D. 1286." I am reading a book called After the Flood by Bill Cooper, who is a speaker
for the Creation Society. It has a number of chapters on the Chronicles of
the early Britons (Celts), History of the early British Kings, The Descent of
the Danish and Norwegian Kings and Descent of the Irish Celtic Kings.
He shows the legitimacy of the Welsh records which was supressed by
the Saxons, but corroborated by the Scandinavian records. A Celtic record
that goes back as far as Japheth. I believe the author is a Saxon!
