I am currently reading through Calvins Institutes. I have problems sometimes understanding what Calvin means, so I was thinking of buying some other material that would help me in my understanding.

I was thinking of either

A Theological Guide to Calvin's Institutes: Essays and Analysis (Calvin 500) by David W Hall

or

Analysis of the Institutes of the Christian Religion of John Calvin, by John Walchenbach

Has anyone on the PB read these? If so, can you recommend any of them?

Hall is helpful.

I would recommend Analysis of The Institutes of The Christian Religion by Ford Lewis Battles. It is a VERY detailed outline of the Institutes that will serve you in good stead for cutting to the chase and quick reference in the future.
