God answered my prayer, while I wasn't looking!

From the very first days of Moncton Community Fellowship I prayed that God would send us 10 men. My belief was that if we had 10 men then we would have a "real" Church Plant.

I don't really know how I came up with the number 10, I just began to think of this as a benchmark. This became the focus of my prayers. For months I prayed this prayer every day.

It always seemed so far away. In my mind I visualised 10 mature christians, that could discuss the fine points of the FV/TR divide. I imagined discussions over the fine points of baptism.

In Gods grace here is what we have...

Tonight we had a "mens meeting" to watch the "Collision" video. 12 men showed up. 1 was blind, 3 didn't speak english as a 1st language, and 2 had a hard time following the debate.

At about half way though the film I REALISED THAT GOD HAD ANSWERED MY PRAYER. Not the way I expected. Nor any way that I had anticipated, but he really had answered my prayer.

How is it that God brought more then I asked for, when I was expectng less then then I prayed for?

Many reasons, two come to mind immediately. 1. Because He loves you! 2. For His Glory!
We serve an awesome God, praise His Holy Name!!!

Because He is "able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think" (Eph 3:20)!

Actually, that is a good point! I heard somewhere that if a child or mother comes to the Lord, statistically speaking, there is a 5-10% chance the rest of the family will. But if the father comes to the Lord, the chances are 80-90% the rest of the family will follow! Don't quote me on the stats, but you get the picture.

Blessings to you, Kevin. Thanks for providing the example to pray specifically - that way you can know when God has been pleased to give you the desire of your heart. In this case, 10 men to be discipled.
