I bought a new CD today. Deciding to try out a new singer, I just picked one and it has turned out pretty good. Her name is Melody Gardot. Here is one of her songs:

Sarah, I didn't know you love Jazz too! Great piece by the way, I really enjoyed it, her voice reminds me of Fiona Apple.

I like Nina too, Coltrane and Ellington are some of my other favorites as well! What type of Jazz do you like best??

I don't know I suppose I would have to go beyond my boarders and listen to different kinds....got any suggestions from utube?

Here are a couple random ones! :sing:

My tastes in jazz are primarily in "roots", i.e. hot jazz, Dixieland, Western Swing and Big Band up until the mid-1940's when cool, progressive jazz started to come in. If your tastes are in the older jazz styles, you might want to check out the weekly program "Hot Jazz Saturday Night" at Hot Jazz Saturday Night.

If you like modern or progressive jazz, you might want to check out the All Things Project at the Neighborhood Church of Greenwich Village, Neighborhood Church of Greenwich Village/All Things Project. This is a congregation of the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference. Their pastor, the Rev. J. Kirk Van der Swaagh , is a leader in the pro-life movement and a Reformed apologist to the Arts community

Some great links everyone. Thanks. I was not familiar with Gardot, and look forward to hearing more of her.

I've been into jazz for a few years now and am a big fan of Carmen McRae and Ella. Lately i've been listening to a lot of contemporary female singers. Like Tierney Sutton, Jane Monheit, Dianna Krall, etc.

I love Billie Holiday, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Thelonius Monk, B.B.King, David Sanborn, Frank Morgan, Sarah Vaughn, and some others I can't remember right now...:) I like Jazz best in the summer for some reason...

I like it best in the summer too, but I think it's because you can open your windows and have a breeze blowing through with all the summer smells....just seems jazzy!

Those are some of my favorites as well!
