Well folks, we come now to Week 15, the penultimate week in our 2025 College Football PB Pick’em. For Week 15 this year, our principal game day falls on my birthday (6 Dec) AND first thing in the morning our Session has our annual budget deliberating meeting for the upcoming year*… so this should be an extra thrilling weekend for me.

As it turns out, there are exactly 9 FBS games and 9 FCS games being played this week. I’ve decided to simply include all of them and make an 18-game slate for our next-to-last week of regular season football fun. Exciting! Do whatever research or deliberating you believe is necessary, or maybe try Brad’s technique from this past week, your choice! :D But whatever you do, please ensure you’ve posted your picks by 6pm CDT, Friday.

Have a great week!

*At our church the Deacons do the lion’s share of the budget prep process, but having presented the proposed budget to the Session, and since the Session alone has authority and power to approve and adopt the budget, the Session then meets in a called meeting and we go over everything the Deacons provided, discuss, pray, make any tweaks, etc., and go from there.

Ben, I'll go ahead and accept the week 15 victory for your birthday. Also, if you could put in a good word with your Deacons, I'd be happy to accept a raise, too. Thanks!

Well, after opening night of this week's pick-o-rama, several are at 3-1 and a couple or so at 2-2. So, no one has raced out to a pretty substantial lead. Today is when the rubber meets the road. May the best guesser win!!

And away we goooooooooooo.......

I did not see the ND snub coming. If you want maximum viewership and fun, ND and Vandy should have been in over Miami and Alabama (I'm even seeing Bama fans online saying they don't belong there this year!).

I would love to hear the conspiracy theories behind that move ( @Edward ?). Forcing them to join a conference?

So, the results are in... and every losing participant in a conference championship went DOWN in the rankings, except for Alabama. Notre Dame - who is playing like they could make a serious run for the title - gets snubbed, but at least we made room to give participation trophies to James Madison and Tulane so they can show up in the CFP and be 3 touchdown underdogs in the first round. :hunter:

Anyway... Week 15 was interesting to say the least. Along the way we had a 3-way tie for first place between Edward, EdM, and Turner... but alas, Turner picked the wrong team to win the tie breaker game, leaving Edward and EdM... The actual score in the tie breaker game was 13-10, and Edward's predicted score of 28-27 (diff 22.67157) was only slightly better than EdM's predicted score of 31-28 (diff 25.45584)... therefore Edward is our Week 15 winner.

So, congrats, Edward! You've earned your third Flaming Scotsman of the season - tying me - as well as another bonus point in the Bowl Bash coming up next week.

Here's how we all did:

Edward - 13 :flamingscot:
EdM, Turner - 13
Jean, Me - 12
Earl, Brad - 11
Rick, Andrew, JM, Todd - 9
Willis, JL - 8

I was shocked by the ND snub. I figured they could get in with another loss or two. James Madison is a joke, Tulane a little less of of this year. Miami didn't deserve the slot, Bama probably didn't, either. Ole Miss probably should have been excluded for hiring Kiffen when his track record is clear. LSU should be suspended from the SEC for hiring him, but they'll get their punishment when he leaves them hanging in a few years.

Noting that a couple of my picks lost in overtime.

Any thoughts as to why ND got snubbed (seemingly out of nowhere)?

Supposedly with Miami and Notre Dame next to each other the head-to-head matchup mattered, and the fact is that Miami beat Notre Dame.

For me, the bigger question is why did every other team who participated in a conference championship, and lost, dropped… Except for Alabama. It was BYU getting dropped that made room for Miami. Alabama should’ve been dropped too. That would’ve been consistent. And I think both Miami and Notre Dame should’ve been in.

And a corollary question is why on earth did we let James Madison and Tulane in when neither of them have any realistic chance of making it past the first round. Those were two completely wasted playoff slots.
