Dude - the question was, "the largest protestant organization"; not the largest apostate organization. ;)

In the world it would be the Anglican Communion with 76,000,000 adherants supposedly. This assumes that you consider Anglicans Protestants.

I know many SBCers who would not consider themselves protestants, claiming rather to be heirs of the Anabaptist movement. But then, would not the Anabaptists be claiming to protest against something.??

Now that is just sad - and kinda funny.

I was told all my life in the SBC that Baptists were not Protestants because "we never came out of Rome but existed long before the Reformation."

But then if it means being #1 - being the LARGEST in the world when it comes to a head count - well then the SBC is a Protestant organization!

:lol::lol::lol::barfy:

PS - does SBC stand for Southern Baptist "Counters"?? :D
I guess then that I know what the SBCs favorite book of the Bible is - the Book of Numbers. :banana:

I asked an SBC pastor about this LDS claim (that the LDS periodically make a big deal out of). He worked in the SBC's Interfaith office for a few years (in Atlanta I think). They looked into this and the stats were coming from the LDS from small groups looked at in the south. Well, of course the LDS converts from the south are going to say they come from an SBC family because statistics would dictate this would probably be the case... So they don't put much stock in this claim made by the LDS.

Why anyone would want to claim Anabaptists as their heritage I have no idea. They must just have no idea of all the Christological heresies and countless other heresies they propounded.

But if one goes with the Swiss Anabaptists, they started out as extremely close associates of Zwingli's. So they did start out as regular Protestants and then broke with Zwingli over the issue of Believers Baptism and related issues. Therefore I still consider them Protestants. Those guys remained pretty orthodox, though. In Germany, Austria and the Netherlands, though, they excelled in heresy.

One thing I have great respect for them in, though, is their commitment to their convictions even unto martyrdom. If one can read the story of Michael Sattler's death and not have tears in their eyes, they're a tougher person than I...

I think that the majority of South Korean Christians are Reformed Presbyterians.

Hmm...to the best of my knowledge, the majority of Christians in Korea are Pentecostal-Charismatic...

We have Korean Presbyterian churches all over up here in the Seattle area. We also have a few in our OPC church as well.
