Thoughts on James Hastings (The Great Texts of the Bible)

For the life of me, I can't find any information about James Hastings. Evidently, he was the editor for The Great Texts of the Bible.

Is he sound? Any information would be deeply appreciated.

I just came upon this post and had the same question. Logos has a couple of his works in Community Pricing Section, and I'm always interested in adding to my library at those reasonable prices. I just cannot find anything other than that he was a Presbyterian minister, and one strange comment that he was a liberal on this site: Tools for Biblical Study

Can anyone shed some light on this topic?
