In Rev 11:19 the ark of His covenant was seen in heaven.
What was it?
Here is one interpretation:
In the following verses Rev 12:1-6 we see a woman who is best described as Mary the Mother of Jesus.
I believe it was Mary. Why? How is she the ark?
Because the ark carried three things that refers to Jesus.
Jesus is Prophet, Priest and King of the New Covenant.
manna=word=prophet
aarons rod=priest
Ten Commandments=law=king
Just as the ark of the mosaic covenant carried these things, so Mary carried Jesus.

Let's dispense of the "marian" connection and Rev 12:

Rev 12:1-6 describes the church, the bride/wife/mother, and particularly (in those verses) believers within Old Covenant Israel (and not one person--such as Mary) which "brings forth" the Messiah. One sees in the remainder of the chapter how "she" (Israel of God) continues on into the age of the Messiah (a collosal cosmic battle between her Seed and Satan is won=the cross). Verse 17 speaks of the "rest" of her seed="those who keep the commandments of God, and hold the testimony of Jesus." HOW CAN THIS "PERSON" BE MARY? Impossible. But don't expect RC's to be swayed--in their multilayerd theology they teach that the Church=a continued Incarnation, and that it is vessicular (like Mary)

Now, back to the ark, Rev. 11:19:

The primary significance of the OT ark was that it was God's earthly Throne. The contents of the ark had their own significance and significations, but those things are not what is in view in this verse. No, it is the ARK itself. In the preceding verses we have a "scene" introduced in verse 15 by the seventh trumpet, followed immediately by the announcement, "Christ reigns!" Verses 16-18 the church (represented by twelve sons-tribes/twelve apostles) bows in worship. And in verse 19 the heavenly temple (God's residence/throne room) doors are flung wide, and the ark which had always been hidden from view on earth (behind the veil) is clearly in evidence. The way to God's throne is open through the person and Work of Jesus.

whoa bruce,

The church did not give birth to Christ, it was Mary, A WOMAN.
When the dragon, satan, tried to kill him through herod, she fled to egypt. It only makes sense that this scripture is talking about Mary.
The ark in 11:19 is not the ark of the old covenant but the new. It is a different ark, a symbolic ark. this is a transitional verse to the vision of the woman seen by John.
She carries the Word, Jesus, and gives birth to the Child who will reign the nations with a rod of iron (Ps. 2)

btw - too many protestants don't want to give any place to Mary in the Bible or theology, which is unfortunate. She is blessed of all women, no other woman in history holds a higher place as the one who gave birth to the messiah, God in flesh. Now are the catholics taking Mary too far as to worship her and put her in equal standing with Christ? Of course, and I'll be the first to say so. But stop dissing her, she is important to all christians and to the message of the gospel.

***I believe it was Mary. ***

"For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark," Matthew24:38

"Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water." 1 Peter3:20

"Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;" Hebrews 9:4

"And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail." Revelation 11:19

The ark represents Christ, for who else can protect us from the old serpent?it is the only security we have.In the old testament the ark was in the holy of holies, and signified the presence of God,God with His people.Back then, only the high priest could approach, and then once a year, but since the cross we can all approach bodly the throne of the Holy Father, any time ,any day, we have access, for there is no longer a veil present.

INTERPRETATIONS BELONG TO GOD,GEN.40:8, AND NOT MAN.THE BIBLE IS ITS OWN INTERPRETER.THERE IS NO ROOM FOR SPECULATIONS,HUMAN OPINIONS AND BABBLINGS.YOU PRESENTED NOT A SINGLE SCRIPTURE IN SUPPORT OF YOUR ARGUMENT.
