I actually like the Ballad of Bilbo Baggins a lot better than that of Davy Crockett.

I was at a Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers concert in Nashville on the evening of his death. TP performed 16 Tons in his honor.

That's about the closest I've came to witnessing a momentuos event in Rock & Roll history.

Ernest Jennings "Tennessee Ernie" Ford (Thursday, February 13, 1919 - Thursday, October 17, 1991). Lived to be 72.

Nathaniel Adams "Nat King" Cole was born a little over a month later (March 17, 1919). Died at 45 (lung cancer)

Must have been a good year for singers.

My daddy used to sing "King of the Road" to us when we were growing up.

I just picked up Tennessee Ernie Ford on vinyl recently, and my daughters love for me to sing along with Tennessee to King of the Road. Good times!
