How far they have fallen

What a joke for a Christian church to build and worship in that building. Not surprising the Roman Catholics have bought it, it suits them perfectly.

The most telling lines in the article were the last.

A number of congregational respondents say that losing the building is a sign of failure of the ministry, and they will not follow the congregation to a new location.

Perfect epitaph for what was a quintessential "baby-boomer" church. Trendy, self-centered, outwardly-defined. Worth determined by visible measurements of success.

Makes me wonder: Why don't such persons just join the congregation that's moving into their old building? Might miss the "trendy," but they could call their last phase "Retro-chic."
