I just discovered that Dr. Osborne died in his sleep on Sunday, November 4th. He was 76 and had retired from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 2016, having taught there since 1977.
He'll probably be best remembered for his book The Hermeneutical Spiral (1st edition 1997, 2nd edition 2010). At his death, he was in the midst of writing a series of New Testament commentaries for Lexham Press. His most recent one - which is now his last book - was John Verse by Verse in that series. It was published not long before his death.
One obituary I saw said that he had been a life-long asthma sufferer. He's breathing freely now in the presence of his Lord. RIP.
