I decided to purchase this offer from Dr. McMahon, a prof. from my seminary, and I started listening to his "Are you truly reformed?" as well as his Covenant Theology overview. Well I think I am now truly reformed...

I am at a loss! Where has this information and teaching been!? This is as big to me as when I first listened to the Doctrine of Grace series by Roy Hargrave...then I felt born again again...and now I feel born again again again!?!?

Now I think I need to get my children baptized and join a paedobaptist church...my wife would go nuts!

Praise the Lord brother. My firstborn son who is about 5 weeks now was baptized last week. Understanding covenant theology as codified in the Reformed confessions is truly transformative.

To quote Nicodemus a *little* loosely, "How can one enter his mother's womb a second time so that he can be baptized as an infant instead of as a believing adult?"




BTW - I was baptized as an infant and then baptized as a believer...so I got all my bases covered already!

I am also new to this covenant theology, but I hurried and when my son, who is now 7 weeks old, was ca 5 weeks old we had him baptised.
It is simply the most safe feeling when everybody in your family are resting on the covenant promise.
By this I mean no offense to those of my brothers who feel different in this subject.

Yes I currently have a wonderful fellowship at Christ Community Church in Monroe, GA, where I serve as a deacon and teacher. I am not going to jump ship so soon as I don't consider baptism an essential doctrine to part fellowship over just yet. I am starting to see though that if I end up completely convinced of Covenant Theology (which I surmise will happen over the next few years while at Whitefield), I may have to part weekly fellowship for a church that does embrace all of Reformed Theology...

Welcome to the Fold Denton! I was a Fundamental Baptist until I was 26 years old and a Paedo the last 13 years however as a married man with no children as of yet I haven't had the joy of experiencing Covenant Baptism for one of my own children. I'm sure it is quite a Blessing.

Awesome, Praise God it is a real eye opener when you get most of it.

And yes work with your wife but read what happened to Moses when Zipporah didn't want him to circumcise his child and he waited. God nearly killed him.

So yes it is a BIG thing. I never thought it was so important when I was a baptist but once I saw the covenant clearly, We are Israel, that was it!!

We are graft into Israel of promise. the one body of elect.

I wish all baptists could see this and have the experience you are having.

But it must be one of those things god has to open your eyes to in his timing.

His ways are beyond ours and Marvelous and mysterious in our eyes!! Keep studying brother and thanks for sharing your experience with us.
