That is astounding. And simply beautiful. The human voice is an amazing gift of God. To some it may sound silly, but singing like that gives me the same feeling as looking at a clear night sky. How can anyone see/hear such things and not worship their Creator?

There was a similar performance on America's Got Talent a while ago. I'll see if I can find it.

And though it might ruin the mood....the show title is completely unnecessary, as one can easily distinguish Britain's Got Talent from American Idol / Got Talent just by the teeth.

I am already crying because of the Penn video. I know this video and if I watch it too, I will be bawling.

Amen!

Thing is, whenever I hear his name, spelling differences and video notwithstanding, the first thought in my head is "Cambodian genocide". (That being said, my wife and I watched that clip about a dozen times, then watched Luciano sing it to compare - Mr Potts came out quite favorably in the comparison.)

KEVIN: Pol Pott is singing in hell right now, but not this sweet.

Wow, I guess he sang in the shower a lot, huh? How do you develop a voice like this without constant practice?

Amazing still, he's from Cardiff!

For those who like heavier opera:

Paul Potts at the Prague Opera Hall:

I listened to the OP version at least a dozen times as well, and loved it very much.

But, In my humble opinion, it borders on insanity to compare Potts to Pavarotti.

Potts does have some unbelievably good moments and a few amazingly pure notes that I can, and do, listen do every time I open this thread.

But Pavarotti is the definition of perfection, with a power, depth, and timbre that Potts will never be able to match. And that is not to mention the ocean-wide difference in technical skill and exactness. Potts, unfortunately, struggled to fill that auditorium, even with a microphone. On the other hand, I'm convinced Pavarotti was born with different/fewer internal organs than the rest of us, so he could hide an amplifier in there. It's just so effortless for him.

Luciano Pavarotti is the MAN in the world of tenors.

And, this fellow ain't too shabby:

(I'm partial. He was one of my best friends growing up. :) )

No, he won't displace Luciano any time soon, but I will bet you Bill Brown's house that you won't find another mobile phone salesman this side of heaven that sings like that!

(Um, Bill, keys please!)
