Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin (born on March 9th, 1934) was the first human to enter outer space on the 12th of April, 1961. Soviet leadership at the time often claimed that Gagarin proclaimed that he went to space and saw no God, but close friends of his say it was no secret to anyone who knew him that he was a devout member of the Russian Orthodox Church.
