What would Jesus Do...for a Klondike bar?

Chris [/quote:27848a3b8b]

Wow, thats pretty deep. Who said that one?

Hey Guys,

I don't mean to get anybody in trouble, but I have to admit that when I read this post, the first thought that went through my mind was "blasphemy". I understand that the whole "WWJD?" trend doesn't exactly have the greatest motives, and that I'm sure it could be called blasphemous, but is not the name of our God holy? Adding "for a Klondike bar" onto our Lord's name, to me, is a clear case of using the Lord's name in vain.

I'm sure this was not your intention, Chris, but it is certainly breaking the Third Commandment (in my mind at least, some one correct me if I am wrong).

Lastly, please know that I do not write this in a Spirit of hatred, anger, or "holier-than-thou-ness". I am a sinner, as well. I write this post to share my concern with you and to humbly ask you to repent.

Here is a long quote from the Westminster Larger Catechism dealing with the third commandment:

Q114: What reasons are annexed to the third commandment?
A114: The reasons annexed to the third commandment, in these words, The Lord thy God, and, For the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain,[1] are, because he is the Lord and our God, therefore his name is not to be profaned, or any way abused by us;[2] especially because he will be so far from acquitting and sparing the transgressors of this commandment, as that he will not suffer them to escape his righteous judgment,[3] albeit many such escape the censures and punishments of men.[4]
