Has anyone read William Evan's book Imputation and Impartation: Union with Christ in American Reformed Theology?
I am seeing him frequently listed with the Torrances as one who follows the Calvin vs the Calvinists school of historiography.

I read it several years ago, so I can't comment fully on it. I think he was right that the emphasis on union with Christ was diminished by the time of the 1800's, but I don't think they were substantially different than Calvin and the early Reformed on that doctrine. I just think Hodge etal were putting their emphasis in fighting the different battles of their time. Again it's been a while since reading it, but those were the thoughts that stuck with me.
