Dale Griffin, drummer with Mott the Hoople, of complications of Alzheimer's Disease, on January 17th, at 67.

Glenn Frey, founding member of the Eagles, of complications of rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis, and pneumonia, on January 18th, also at 67.

(There's a connection between Mott the Hoople and the late David Bowie, in that Bowie wrote and produced their hit song, "All the Young Dudes.")

Glenn Frey's death hits close to home. The Eagles have been my favorite band since I was in high school in the 70's. Their early acoustic sound, harmonies, and the addition of Joe Walsh elevated them to an iconic place in American music. The band's last album, "Long Road out of Eden" contained some great tracks.

Goodbye, Glenn.
