I am working through the doctrine of the church as I follow Reformed and Biblical principles. In working that out, there are aspects to the doctrine such as its authority, mission, offices, sacraments, and discipline.

How would you explain "its power" being spiritual?

Matt, you're not equating "power" with "spiritual" as being similar?

"Power" is a force and "spiritual" implies personal ... so I'd say that the power of the church resides in the hearts of believers to some degree. Some degree, meaning in a visible assembly there are unbelievers, self-deceived and yet residing within the visable church body.

Maybe, "visable and invisable" categories should be explained first?
