What I want to know is how the KJV only person comes to the authoritative revelatory conclusion that the KJV is inspired? I guess one of the verses removed in more recent translations must have been the part where the KJV self authenticates itself...

NASB, NRSV, ESV are all great study/personal translations to use in English.

The NKJV is a re-wording of the KJV, not really a translation, and is based on antiquated manuscripts that have long since been proven to be deficient in many areas... I simply don't understand all of this KJV worship nonsense, the KJV Bible is filled with additions and errors.

We make idols so easily, don't we!

hi,iam new to the board ..this subject as given me a few sleepless nights..i found i became so worried about what Bible i owned.that i spent more time reading Books about the Bible i owned..then if i had time, i would read the Bible i owned!

iam a great fan of j green as well .. i do read the KJV + NKJV ..but i dont think i would/want ever be in a position where i would say one Bible is the One..

iam reminded of when John's disciples came to Jesus asking if he was the Messiah "Then Jesus answering said unto them,Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached"
maybe iam naive. but when i think about most scriptual debates i come back to that verse..whats your fruits!as far as preaching the Gospel, i cant see anything in any of the major Bibles that would prevent God's message or not back up God's message

the only thing i would say about different translations.. is a moral point, its kind of sad how much moneys spent on them..so many different bibles/study bibles..kind of sad with the poverty in this world.but hey i voted for Blair that makes me a socialist

as my fav verse says "Of making many books there is no end, and much study is wearisome to the flesh. " andy

You speak wise words. About 5 years ago, I was in the same boat. On the surface, the KJO crowd seemed to have some good points, although after doing research, the arguments for KJO fell apart. Sadly, it wasn't overnight that I came to that conclusion. Praise God for yours! And, welcome to the board.

I agree about the money spent on Bibles/different translations. And sometimes I wish for those simple days when the King James was the only translation I knew!

hi ive been thinking about this translation issue today..a thought came to me..in the world today there are countries where its still hard to find Bible's or even illegal..what are we going to say when a niv arrives into the hands of someone in China ..hummmm man u got the wrong translation???

Well, if we put all the NIV/TNIV bibles (not to mention the MSG, NLT, NCV, TLB, GNT, etc...) on a rocketship headed towards the sun, we wouldn't have to worry about such a scenario, now would we? :bigsmile:
