Since this board lacks an ethics forum, and since I believe ethics is normed by God, I put it in the Law of God forum.

For some time now ethicists have warned that the development of real animal-human combinations -- known as chimeras -- was nearing on the horizon. Now, according to some reports, the future has arrived.

Eventually I would like to explode a thread into a discussion on cloning, but not yet.

I wonder if we would ever see an army of Government-sponsored chimeras. And if you had to fight them in self-defense, would it be violating the sixth commandment?

No.

Because self defense does not violate the 6th commandment.

On the other issue I have a hard time buying that this is possible.

I agree on the sixth commandment. My question was:

1) Is killing a clone in and of itself wrong?
2) apropos (1), if no, would it then be wrong because you are depriving someone (e.g., the state university's biology lab) of their property?
3) apropos (2), if yes, does it really count since they aqcuired the property through unethical means?

Not just mice or sheep, but cow-humans too!

I've been following chimera issues for a long time. I had a short blog post on above story last November.

It used to be science fiction. There were oblique references to ethics. (Remember "The Fly"? The human essence--or intelligence-- had been mixed into a fly's body which was under threat of being swatted without much thought.)

But in the meantime, while a few people wrung their hands and pondered, the practice has advanced now to a question of technique.
