What is that inclined book holding thing on the puritan's desk in the picture at the puritan's mind main page? Is it just an inclined box type thing? Could you make one make the top unlatch and put stuff in it. That would be pretty cool. Does it have a name?

I may be mistaken but it looks like something called a "secretary box," "writing box," "lap desk" or "writing slope."

Yes, they can be made. I've made several for myself and others. Any cabinet maker can do it. Really, any decent carpenter can. You might also want to check out levenger.com They have several styles along with some great pens and writing 'stuff'.
