Stop trying to please God?

I've said this before, but it bears repeating here: We who are Calvinist get caught in the middle on this. On one side you have Lutherans who claim we're still too "law-oriented" and don't rightly divide between law and gospel. They accuse us of still depending on obedience in an unscriptural way, that we engage in a "bait and switch" and believe we still look to works ultimately as our foundation instead of Christ. On the other side, you have Rome and the Arminians, claiming we don't emphasize good works enough, and that sanctification is (in their opinion) largely ignored.
