1: Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2: But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3: And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4: The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5: Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6: For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

People who think like this scare me more than almost anyone else, especially when they get into power. This reasoning is the perhaps the ultimate endpoint of utilitarianism run amok.

This is the way the world will continue turning. With stem cells we will be able to hold death at bay for centuries potentially, regenerating new organs when they are needed, replenishing damaged cells and tissues, and curing a host of previously uncurable diseases. A fetus is a variable, an unknown, whereas the person who receives the treatment may be a clear benefit to society and humans as a race. Stem cells will be the first step in us transcending our biological roots and truly become enlightened. Many people of course will elect not to have any part of this but they will be the ones who die and will no be calling the shots. Let us become what we aspire to.
