Anyone here a fan of sacred harp, or shaped note singing? As I type I'm listening to "Rivers of Delight: American Folk Hymns From the Sacred Harp Tradition" and thoroughly enjoying it. I'm a fan of early American music, and sacred harp singing is just amazing. This unique form of acapella singing started in early 18th century New England, was very popular in the 1780s and then appeared a generation later in the rural South. This cd has some of my favorite tunes like "Windham" an 18th century tune with words by Isaac Watts, and "Parting Friends."

I LOVE that album! I love learning the "old" amillennial verse that ends "Amazing Grace" as well.

The earth will melt away like snow
The sun forbear to shine,
But God Who called me here below
Will be forever mine.
