Just looking for any books that are meant to comfort those physically suffering that might also tackle questions of theodicy and the problem of suffering. While, I can intellectually grasp the basics of God's providence, I am unsure how to unpack it in a meaningful and comforting way to those around me without the overuse of platitudes, if that makes sense...

Could Boston's "A Crook in the Lot" be one?

I have found these two to be helpful:
Suffering & Sovereignty: John Flavel and the Puritans on Afflictive Providence by Brian H. Crosby
Behind a Frowning Providence by John J. Murray (very short 29-page booklet from Banner of Truth)

Here's a good one that is also very readable.

James Buchanan's Comfort in Affliction and Improvement of Affliction. They take in the whole system of truth applied to the subject. He personally experienced ill health and was laid aside from the ministry at different times.

Both of these are available at Monergism for no-cost ePubs.

This free online course by the Reformed Forum covers Theodicy and suffering as well as God's providence, as found in the book of Job. I think you will find it very pastoral and helpful.

Maybe it's a bit specific (to ill health) but Paul D Wolfe, My God is True! (Banner of Truth, 2009).
