Anyone enjoy Lecrae?

Yes, he's not explicit or vulgar, but he did live a rough life. There are only a couple of songs (from 2 or 3 CDs) that my husband didn't allow my son to download to his iPod Touch.

There have been a number of reformed rap threads on the PB. :) Yes, I love Lecrae, Shai Linne, Trip Lee, Timothy Brindle, etc. Good guys, solid theology, and great music production.

I've always enjoyed Shai Linne's Atonement Q&A

I am not much for rap, but my youngest son (20) listens to a few y"all have mentioned.

It's not the rap what is being focused on in Christian rap, but the message. Rap is just a secondary way of preaching. And I think it can be very helpful. The message is easy to memorize because it is in a form of a song and it has rhymes. It's a bit like Puritan prayers in that sense.:pilgrim:

What timing...my neighbor across the street just let me hear Lacrae for the first time yesterday. His kids listen to him and he was excited about his reformed views and really solid lyrics w/lots of Scripture. I'm not really into rap anymore like I was when I was a teenager, but I thought it was cool that there was quality stuff like this by reformed artists. Pretty cool.

Lecrae will actually be in my area not too long from now for a special summer event put on by R.U.S.H. ministries. The ministry to my knowledge isn't Calvinistic or Reformed,so I must say I'm surprised he was invited to come, but thankful as well as at least the youth and their parents will get something solid that weekend. :)
