Here's a question I've been thinking about lately, and didn't find any help in John Brown of Haddington.
The catechism speaks of Christ under the name of Redeemer from Q.21 onwards. Why does it not use "Mediator" also? Or to put it another way: what is the relationship between, on the one hand, Christ as Mediator and Christ as Redeemer, and on the other hand, between Christ as Mediator, and Christ as prophet, priest and king? The Standards set out pretty fully the relationship between Christ as Redeemer and Christ as prophet, priest and king. What can be said specifically with respect to Christ as Mediator?
