The Southern Presbyterians are often used by proponents of the Escondido view of the doctrine of the Two Kingdoms in order to argue for historical precedent for their viewpoint. As has already been done with John Calvin an even cursory reading of the Southern Presbyterians (here exemplified by R.L. Dabney) shows that the concepts being argued for by E2K are not similar to the ideas of the Southern Presbyterians, especially in application if not in theory.
