Providence/Soverignty of God: Compatibilism?

Hi! Does any one know if Compatibilism is the predominate reformed view of God's providence/sovereignty and was this also the case in the past? Can anyone recommends some books that promote a Compatibilism view of the Providence/Sovereignty of God?

Yes, and no. Yes, there was an argument which was sometimes used to show how man is still free in his choices and this argument approximates to compatibilist teaching. No, this argument was not made an "ism" in itself. The reality is that God's absolute and exhaustive determination of all things that come to pass includes free agency as one among many secondary causes. So far as the free agent is concerned, God's determination is not the direct cause of his choices. A determined event is an hypothetical factor in the dynamics of human choice. The thing determined by God is not known by the choosing agent and therefore requires no argument to explain their compatibility.
