Reformed Covenanter

Cancelled Commissioner
[N]o father may lawfully command to give a babe a razor in his hand, no authority can command to run a horse in a street amongst bairns [children].” Samuel Rutherford

Samuel Rutherford and Thomas Sydserff, ‘An discussing of some arguments against cannons and ceremonies in God’s worship, 1636’ in David George Martin (ed.), Scottish History Society, Fifth Series, Volume 11: Religious Controversy in Scotland 1625-1639 (Edinburgh: Scottish History Society, 1998), p. 84.

Since we are in the new covenant we are freed from the law, so we can give babies razors and command horses to run among children. It’s within our Christian freedom.
