WCF 22.1: "A lawful oath is a part of religious worship, wherein upon just occasion, the person swearing solemnly calleth God to witness what he asserteth or promiseth; and to judge him according to the truth or falsehood of what he sweareth."

LBC 23:1: "A lawful oath is a part of religious worship, wherein the person swearing in truth, righteousness, and judgment, solemnly calleth God to witness what he sweareth, and to judge him according to the truth or falseness thereof."

Does your church practice lawful oaths as part of your worship as prescribed in the confessions? Have any of you personally taken a lawful oath? If so, could you describe the practice?

Membership vows come to mind. It would seem to me that those who partake of these vows bring them to worship.

I don't think it means it is a part of regular worship, but, rather, when a person believes such a vow must be made, it ought to be done in the solemnity of worship.

For one thing, it discourages foolish vows, and for another, it places great weight upon what is vowed.
