Map utility or source to general or obtain map detail to publish in print

I need to generate some detail maps of an area of a city to include in a print publication. I know I can generate maps in Google but it includes things I don't want and I am unclear on the freedom to publish it or if the resolution would be sufficient for b&w print publishing. Anyone know of a service or utility that generates maps and a several block street detail for print publications?

I know of no such service, however, if it is only a couple maps you need, I'd be glad to help out. I make maps for a living and have done B&W maps for books, papers, and curriculum in the past.
