I'd like to work through the 4 gospels in parallel for my pesonal devotional time, and am looking for a devotional commentary to guide my study. Do any of you have a book recommendation for this?

Matthew Henry's full or concise commentary is available on esword which offers a gospel harmony function in the Bible tab. It's all free!

J. C. Ryle is one of my most Favorite Gospel Commentators and the four volume hardback set use to be available and overly reasonable priced. But I am not sure it is available right now.

You can read them online here. Grace Gems!

Or you can just get this Daily Readings book. I have not seen this before.
Daily Readings From All Four Gospels is a fresh presentation of Ryle's classic Daily Readings, previously published by Evangelical Press in two volumes. This new edition contains all 732 readings from the two previous volumes and arranges them for the morning and evening of every day of any year. Hardcover by Evangelical Press.

Another +1 for Ryle. I have read through his "Expository Thoughts" on Matthew, Mark, and am currently reading Luke. There is a rich, depth of devotional though in these volumes.
