Kneeling at communion?

Jack,

Yes, I agree. If we were coming out of heavy Catholicism then there would be strong reason to dissociate from many of their practices. However, seeing that standing, sitting, kneeling and even going prostrate all have a biblical basis as postures of prayer, if the taker of the Lord's Supper does so prayerfully, and the posture is associated with his praying primarily, then I cannot find fault in mere posture. This is one example of where Puritan theology may try to absolutize that which was fitting for their context, but not necessarily every context.

In a related note, some mslm background believers, even after conversion, pray to the true God in a kneeling position, bowing before the Lord after the manner of the Sholat prayers. They feel it is more respectful.
