Jesus did experience areal separation from the Father while upon the cross though, as he endured Hell for those 3 hours, at least He felt it the same way lost sinners will forever.

What kind of separation? He didn't experience essential separation, as that would be polytheism.

And in one sense God was pleased with Jesus on the cross, as he accepted the ascension offering in light of the resurrection.

Jesus, in my understanding, was the Suffering Servant of Isaiah 53, so the Father crushed/bruised Him due to our own sins, and Jesus perfect obedience to the Law meant that His death was acceptable to God as the Sin Bearer, but Jesus also was treated while on the Cross as a sinner, and experienced for those 3 hours what being isolated and separated from presence of God all lost sinners will endure feels like.
