Johann Gerhard

Has anyone read, or at least dipped into, Gerhard's Theological Commonplaces, which is currently being translated into English and published by Concordia Publishing House as a multi-volume set?

He's from the period of Lutheran High Orthodoxy, so I'm curious as to how his theology reads.
