The following events of note in church history occurred on January 28:

* 814 -- Holy Roman Emperor Charlemagne died;

* 1521 -- The Diet of Worms began;

* 1547 -- King Henry VIII of England died;

* 1560 -- John Laski, Polish Reformer, died;

* 1581 -- King James VI of Scotland subscribed to the Scottish National Covenant;

* 1860 -- Joseph A. Alexander, American Presbyterian, died;

* 1862 -- William Symington, Scottish Reformed Presbyterian, died; and

* 1907 -- John G. Paton, Scottish Reformed Presbyterian missionary, died.

Death is joyful for believers so my statement could also be "glass-is-half-full" :p ... or am I making excuses for my oversight...

Those Germans must have had a lot to do, since Luther's two days before the Diet wasn't until mid-April.
