I once bought this for my sister, hoping Darth Vader’s voice might entice her enough to listen to the Bible... I don’t think it worked.Thought I'd share this Darth Vader (aka James Earl Jones) reads the Bible:
I completely agree. He reads a frightening passage like the first chapter of Nahum as though it were the 23rd Psalm.Although James Earl Jones has one of the most beautiful speaking voices I have ever heard, his reading of the Bible is atrociously bad. He reads with very little understanding of what is there.
You mean General Pushkin did an audio Bible too?Sad but true on James Earl Jones. It should have worked.
I also prefer Johnny Cash.
Only a Scotsman can read the Scriptures aloud properly.
John Rhys-Davies is Welsh and has done wonderfully with portions.

Tongue-in-cheek (mostly )Only a Scotsman can read the Scriptures aloud properly.

Too often I feel like McLean is "over acting." For me, his affected enunciation is a distraction. Though I will say, he does better than James Earl Jones.I prefer Max McLean.
I've got 'em loaded in my car's CD player! Anytime I'm cruising around, I've got it playing.I much prefer the voice of Alexander Scourby.
He did portions on the NLT Breathe Bible and on the Catholic RSV Truth & Life Audio Bible. He also narrated the KJB: King James Bible DVD some years back. You mean General Pushkin did an audio Bible too?
