Enjoy God, by trusting and rejoicing in this his universal and unceasing providence. While acknowledging his actual operations, and adoring his absolute sovereignty, in all that comes to pass, you are called not only to submit in silence to his dispensations, as things that must be borne; but also to surrender yourselves with satisfaction to his disposal as what is best to be done. Thus giving glory to his name, as the preserver of men, and as a great king over all the earth, you may then enjoy the consolation of being under so powerful a protector and so paternal a provider. In all conceivable circumstances, you may possess your souls in patience, and “let the peace of God, which passeth understanding, rule in your hearts.” ...
