It's one thing to debate infant baptism, another to understand "Covenant Holiness"...

Christian Preacher
Lots of debate surrounds infant baptism, where that should be the last five minutes on a five hour conversation on "Covenant". This work by Blake not only straightens out the incorrect views that are often attached to a warped idea about what the covenant is, but he works exegetically to show what covenant holiness is all through Scripture. And he takes to task, in a brief section, Mr. Tombes' view of baptism. This is a valuable polemic written by a Covenant Theologian that is masterfully constructed.

Covenant Holiness and Infant Baptism By Thomas Blake

Thomas Blake (1597-1657), was a Reformed, Presbyterian puritan, who published a large number of books on puritan and covenant theology.

This work by Blake is a second treatment on covenant theology that was widely circulated during his time outside of his magnum opus work “The Covenant of God.” This book is a combination of two treatises he wrote, one concerning the covenant holiness of infants under the ordinance of baptism, and a second covering answers to questions surrounding whether there is sufficient ground in scripture to warrant the conscience of a Christian to present his infants to the sacrament of baptism. Both are excellent Scriptural treatments of the subject, with exegesis surrounding passages such as Galatians 2:15, Genesis 17, 1 Corinthians 7, and Ephesians 4:1-3.
