I'm about to begin a new book: The Same God Who Works All Things: Inseparable Operations in Trinitarian Theology by Adonis Vidu (Grand Rapids: Eerdmans, 2021), xix + 352 pages.

I want to read this for two reasons: (1) this is, I understand, the very first book-length treatment of this subject, and (2) who wouldn't want to read a book by a guy named Adonis?

"Inseparable operations," by the way, in case you're unfamiliar with the term, is the doctrine in Christian theology that says that all three Persons in the Trinity always agree and always work together ("inseparable") in all the actions they take ("operations"). This can lead to some interesting questions, such as (reading from the dust jacket) "In what way did the Father create the world through Christ?" "How can only the Son be incarnate, die, and be resurrected?" and "Why does Christ have to ascend before the Holy Spirit may come?" Looks interesting.

Vidu is Professor of Theology at Gordon-Conwell.
