How to write a concordance?

I know this question is a little random. I am just wondering how men like Young and Strong write their concordance. Does anyone know how they did it? I am think that they just read the Bible and made a note on sheets of paper every time a word appeared.

Probably with an index card system. A card for each word in an alphabetical card file. Then have a bunch of people take on different sections, noting on the cards where the words are found as you read.

Sounds tedious, but I remember editors making index entries in that manner.

Yes, that sounds about right. I can see someone doing that to create a concordance.
